Purpose: In order to ensure that Leicester is on target to be a low carbon city by 2025 Councillor Rory Palmer is leading the creation of an action plan to be taken forward by all organisations, groups and individuals in Leicester.

Following the production of the City-wide Carbon Reduction Roadmap there is now an open consultation on how to turn this into the Action Plan.
We would like to know what you feel you can do to support the creation of a low carbon Leicester!
We are consulting: Residents of Leicester City

Consultation on Potential New Authorised Gypsy and Traveller Sites in Leicester City

Consultation forthcoming. Purpose: Leicester City Council needs more authorised Gypsy and Traveller sites to help to prevent unauthorised camps.

Unauthorised camps are a particular problem in the north west of the city. They can cause real concern for local residents. By proposing authorised sites we are responding to local residents' concerns about unauthorised camping.

At present, the city has one authorised, council managed site, at Meynells Gorse. This site is full, meaning that a number of local Gypsy and Traveller families have no legal permanent place to live.

When there are no spaces available on authorised sites it makes it more difficult for the council and the police to move Gypsies and Travellers on from unauthorised camps. The provision of new authorised sites, for both short and long stays, would help to address this.

We are consulting: The council is seeking the views of all city residents, but particularly those living in the Beaumont Leys and Abbey wards.

Carers Strategy 2012-2015

Results of the consultation are now available. Purpose: The Carers Strategy 2009-2011 has come to an end and Leicester City Council is writing a new strategy. This will be a joint undertaking along with Leicestershire County Council, Rutland County Council and Leicester City, Leicestershire County and Rutland NHS cluster but Leicester City will have its own Delivery Action Plan.
We are now inviting comments on the draft strategy.
We are consulting: Carers including young carers, Carer organisations, City residents interested in promoting the health and wellbeing of carers.
Leicestershire and Rutland are undertaking a separate consultation exercise that reflects their Delivery Action Plan.
