Hackney and private hire vehicle driver licensing

Closed 17 Nov 2019

Opened 21 Oct 2019

Overview

We are reviewing our policies and procedures for licensing drivers of hackney carriages and private hire vehicles. This is part of our taxi strategy, where we will look at all areas of taxi licensing to see where improvements can be made.

Why your views matter

Our aim is to provide our services in the most efficient and robust way, in order to ensure public safety. We would like to hear what the taxi trade, the travelling public, responsible authorities and other parties have to say on our proposed changes.

What happens next

The responses to this consultation will be collated by officers and then reported to councillors with recommendations for change. The City Mayor will decide whether to go ahead with the proposals, amend them or reject them. His decision will be published in due course.
