We asked motorcyclists their views on whether additional motorcycle parking was required in the city centre and if so what locations they would suggest.
 

You said

Motorcyclists responded with numerous suggestions of where new motorcycle parking might be located.
 
 

We did

These suggestions were assessed and two locations were identified where there had been a number of requests and where new provision could be made.

These were around Highcross and the Charles Street/Humberstone Gate East area and new motorcycle parking is being provided on the central reserve in Humberstone Gate East and in Freeschool Lane.

Traffic Regulation Orders to enable provision of these facilities have been advertised and no objections received and they will be implemented shortly.

In addition motorcycle parking recently provided on Rutland Street has proved very popular and this will be extended subject to approval of the necessary Traffic Regulation Order.

Overview

As part of the wider process of improving parking in Leicester city centre, measures to ensure the provision of an adequate number of suitable motorcycle parking spaces are being considered.

It is important for the council to find out whether current provision meets the current level of demand for motorcycle parking, as well as to look at the locality and security of existing dedicated parking spaces, both on-street and off-street.


We wish to gather information from motorcyclists regarding these issues which will help to inform our motorcycle parking strategy.
