Saint Saviours Road proposed traffic calming
Overview
Leicester City Council is proposing to introduce traffic calming on Saint Saviours Road in order to slow speeding traffic and improve safety for pedestrians, residents, businesses and motorists.
There have been several reported instances of vehicles speeding on the approach to the bend near the junction with Hillcroft Road, resulting in accidents that have caused damage to resident vehicles, property boundary walls, and the guard railing at the bottom of the path from Saint Saviours Walk. The lighting column and beacon in the middle of the existing pedestrian refuge have been impacted on several occasions and have subsequently been removed. A new lighting column has been installed at the back of the footpath to illuminate the refuge.
To enhance road safety and reduce speeds, we propose the installation of two sets of speed cushions. These speed cushions are similar to those commonly seen on many streets and roads in the Leicester city area.
