Overview

Households in Netherhall and Thurncourt are being invited to give their views about options for future use of the scout hut on Nursery Road.

Leaflets containing a questionnaire have been delivered to homes in Netherhall and Thurncourt to tell residents about the proposals and to ask for their views

Why your views matter

Earlier this year, Leicester City Council was approached to help the Scout Association find a new organisation to take over the lease of the scout hut on Nursery Road.

We contacted community groups and individuals, who had previously told us they were looking for premises, and received a number of applications for the lease.

The only group that satisfied the lease criteria was As-Salaam Trust, a local community group, which has been meeting in the local area for nearly three years.

However, a number of concerns were raised about As-Salaam possibly being granted the lease, including parking, noise at night and the future of land next to the scout hut.

In response to these concerns "Forgotten Estates", a new community group which campaigns for the scout hut to be kept in use for the whole community, was formed.

Since August we have been working with As-Salaam, Forgotten Estates, local residents and other interested groups to find a solution that is acceptable to everyone.

We have listened to all of the views that have been put forward and have developed two options that we are asking residents in and around Netherhall and Thurnby Lodge to consider.
