Overview

Leicester City Council needs to de-designate a small area of the Goss Meadows Local Nature Reserve (LNR) to enable highway improvements to the junction of Anstey Lane and Bennion Road, Leicester. The area of land needed for the re-alignment is approximately 80m2.

This project is part of an £8m highway improvement scheme that will provide additional transport capacity into the city centre from the A46/ Anstey Lane junction.

The wider scheme, first announced in mid-2017 forms part a number of off-site highway infrastructure works in support of the Ashton Green Sustainable Urban Extension development and the Council has secured £5m of grant funding from Highways England towards the scheme due to start in mid-2019.

We are seeking views on the proposal to de-designate part of the Goss Meadows LNR.
