We asked

We sought your views on the changes we were proposing to the home to school transport policy for mainstream pupils.

You said

A totsal of seven responses were received. Three supported the proposals, three disagreed and one response expressed no preference but supplied comments.

We did

As only a very small number of people objected to the proposed changes, we decided to implement them with immediate effect. The revised policy has therefore been adopted and published on our website.

Overview

The council provides free school transport to eligible pupils in accordance with its legal obligations.

Free transport is usually provided in the form of a bus pass to be used on commercial routes. The bus pass provides transport on a designated route and can only be used during term time at the beginning and end of the school day.

In circumstances where a parent/carer chooses to send their child to a school that is not the nearest qualifying school, the parent/carer will be responsible for the full cost of transport.

Why your views matter

This consultation seeks views from service users, parents, carers, service providers, staff and other stakeholders on the policy to ensure it meets the needs of qualifying children and young people.
