Have your say on leisure centres
Overview
Developing a modern, efficient and fit for purpose network of council leisure centres
The council’s leisure centres perform an important dual role. They provide affordable access to leisure, exercise and sport activities and also an important social and wellbeing role in supporting physical and mental health and social connection.
The eight sport and leisure centres form part of a network of leisure facilities across the city. Over the last five years we have enhanced and improved our health and fitness facilities in several centres and expanded our programmes and activities. The performance of the leisure centres over the last five years has accelerated in terms of growth, usage and income generation. Over the last five years the centres have increased visitor numbers to over 1.5 million and increased leisure centre membership to over 20,000.
Looking forward, with the rising costs and cuts to government funding, we need to consider carefully how we invest in our leisure centre stock to get the best value for money for our customers and residents. That’s why we need to ensure that our leisure centres are modern, efficient and fit for purpose for years to come.
Why your views matter
We’d like to know how you want to use leisure centres in the future. We are keen to hear from customers and non-customers.
If you are a customer, we are asking about which ones you use, what aspects are important to you and what would make you use them more. We are also keen to know how far you travel and what activities and facilities you use when visiting our leisure centres.
We also want to hear from non-customers - Leicester city residents and others who visit the city for study, work or leisure, so we can find out if there are things we could do to encourage you to use our leisure centres.
