Overview
Leicester City Council is consulting on school term and holiday date patterns and we would like to know your views on a range of options prepared by our Working Party. The Working Party includes representation from headteachers, governors and school based staff.
The options are set out in the documents attached below.
Why your views matter
Term dates for the 2017/18 academic year have already been consulted upon and published. It was decided to mirror the term dates that Leicestershire County Council had previously set for their schools. However, we would like your views on amending the scheduled start date of the Autumn Term 2017 for Leicester City Council schools, to ensure that pupils do not need to return to school until after the August Bank Holiday. We wish to know whether or not respondents support the proposed change.
We are also seeking your views on potential school term and holiday date patterns for the 2018/19 and 2019/20 academic years.
Two options are presented for each of these academic years. We are asking respondents to tell us their preferred option for each year.
We hope as many people as possible will respond to this invitation and would encourage participation within schools and the local school community.
What happens next
Once the consultation has been completed and all responses have been analysed, it is hoped that the results will be agreed in June 2016.
