Impact of social isolation and loneliness on men (local organisations)
Overview
As a follow on from a Mental Health and Social Isolation conference held in February 2024, it was raised that more work needs to be done to address social isolation and loneliness in men within Leicester.
In the Health and Wellbeing Survey 2024, overall 8.9% of men reported experiencing some form of social isolation issue, but we also know that men are least likely to report feelings of social isolation or loneliness so we suspect this number could be higher. For example, in North West Leicester sees a rise to 15.5% of males experiencing isolation often or all of the time, the number also rises to 24.5% for men who are not working due to long-term sickness or a disability.
This has now led us to wanting to understand more about the barriers men face when accessing services and scope what is out there for men to join.
We would welcome your support by completing the survey which should only take around ten minutes.
Many thanks
