Dore Road area residents parking scheme consultation

Overview

Leicester City Council has received a number of enquiries from local residents and ward councillors regarding parking pressures in the Stoneygate and Dore Road area.

Many of the concerns raised relate to the difficulty residents experience in finding available parking spaces near their homes. Residents have reported that limited parking capacity is often being taken up by business vehicles, commuters and other visitors to the area.

Following the successful introduction of Residents’ Parking Zone “S” in the Stoneygate area in 2025, the Council is considering extending Zone “S” to include the Dore Road area (Dore Road, Normanton Road, Ashover Road, Baslow Road, Rowsley Street, Kedleston Road, Hollington Road and Staveley Road). The proposed operational hours would be:

• 24 hours a day, 7 days a week

The purpose of the proposal is to help prioritise parking for residents and address the parking issues that have been brought to the Council’s attention.

For visitors visiting shops and businesses within the area, dedicated parking bays will be marked out on street, with upright signs to indicate length of permitted stay. The locations of these bays are yet to be decided.

All permits are now issued electronically using the City Council’s MiPermit system.
