Kestrel Mead Infant School Street

Overview

Leicester City Council have received complaints and concerns about the safety and welfare of pupils, their families and residents during the school run on roads surrounding Kestrel Mead Infant School for several years. We would like to capture views on any issues you encounter in this area and your views on a proposal to trial a School Street and a pavement parking ban, as a way of alleviating some of these problems.

We are proposing that the School Street would include Hazeldene Road and Bramble Close. The School Street would not be accessible to motor vehicles, and only exempt vehicles would have access into the closure zone. The closure points will initially be marshalled by Highways Operatives and then after the initial period, by staff members from the school.

At the same time, we propose to trial a pavement parking ban on Foxglove Road, Sorrel Road and Trefoil Road.

We would also like your views on the interventions you would like to see.

If the trial goes ahead further information will be sent to residents about how to apply for an exemption.

Why your views matter

If the feedback from the online survey is supportive, we plan to start a trial School Street lasting up to 18 months. During this trial, residents can share their thoughts, suggest changes, or ask for the scheme to be removed.

This activity will open on 10 Sep 2026. Please come back on or after this date to give us your views.
