We asked

For the public to share comments on the proposed Cycle City Action Plan and encourage more citizens into cycling and to direct investment opportunities.

You said

The Action Plan was understood and the proposals were liked, but wanted more good quality routes, facilities, traffic enforcement and training to help other vulnerable road users.

We did

We agreed to review proposals, priorities, enforcement and training proposals in a re-drafted Action Plan that will be shared on a wider basis for endorsement and support.

The sections below include some of the results of the consultation along with findings.  Please review the 'We asked You said We Did' section of this page for further information.

Final version of the Cycle City Action Plan

The Draft Cycle City Action Plan sets out our strategic aims, priority areas for investment and our approaches to key challenges and targets as part of the Connecting Leicester Vision. It is an illustration of what we aim to do to encourage more of our citizens into cycling as well as attracting and directing investment opportunities. We have included a proposed programme of work to 2016. This includes delivering infrastructure, training, engagement and promotions across the city to help make cycling safe, simple and more attractive.

The Draft Cycle City Action Plan is a document that sets out our aspirations for the network. Specific routes are not yet at the detailed design stage and each piece of new infrastructure is subject to a separate design, audit and consultation process. We will also aim to integrate any proposals into existing schemes and programmes to minimise conflict between all road users and encourage mutual respect on our city streets.

Why your views matter

The aim of the Cycle City Action Plan is to encourage more citizens into cycling and directing investment opportunities. To achieve this the City Council has worked with stakeholder organisations and representatives to identify initial objectives that will help meet planned targets. This consultation and your comments will help us shape the final action plan so that we can start working to achieve them.
