We asked for views on our draft gambling policy, which would guide the council, applicants, objectors, responsible authorities and operators for the three year period beginning on 1 February 2016.
You said
Six responses were received, which were included in a report to full Council on 26 November 2015 together with officers' responses. Comments included concern about fixed odds betting terminals, protecting children and young aduls from harm caused by gambling, and appropriate locations for gambling premises.
We did
The policy was approved at the meeting on 26 November 2015 and published on the council's website. It was agreed that a foreword to the policy would be produced, which would not form part of the policy but would set out the council's vision and aspirations regarding gambling premises.

The comments we received were included in the report to full Council on 26 November 2015. The policy was adopted at that meeting and subsequently published on our website. The policy takes effect on 1 February 2016.

Overview
The Gambling Act 2005 says that we have to publish our Gambling Policy every three years. The current policy is due to expire in 2016 and so we are consulting on a replacement policy
Why your views matter
The Gambling Policy sets out how we will carry out our responsibilities under the Gambling Act 2005. We want to hear the views of residents, businesses, gambling operators, responsibile quthorities and other interested parties to help shape our policy.
What happens next
When the consultation has ended we will use the responses to help us finalise our Gambling Policy for 2016-2019. The policy will be considered by Members and full Council will approve the final version in November 2015.
