Changes to Supported Bus Services

We asked for your opinion on 13 proposed changes to supported bus routes around Leicester. The 878 service is a school service and was proposed to carry on unchanged, so it was effectively covering 12 routes. Of these routes only the 10/11 and 36 route were proposed to be withdrawn, other routes would be mainly amended.

322 responses were received, most of which were clearly in favour of keeping the bus routes as they were. However, 218 of the returned comments referred to either the 10/11 or 36 service and the respondents tended to be elderly residents from areas serviced by those bus routes.

As a consequence of budgetary constraints, the changes to services were recommended for implementation. However, the needs of our elderly and disabled service users was taken into account when assessing potential negative effects, and our proposals sought to avoid negative consequences. Other bus routes have been amended/rerouted to try and cover aspects of the 10/11 and 36 routes and minimise the effect of withdrawing the two routes.
