Published Admissions Number
Overview
Birth rates in Leicester have fallen considerably in recent years and were 25% lower in the 2020/21 academic year compared to the number of births in 2010/11. The impact of this is starting to show in school place applications, with much lower pupil numbers in the early primary year groups than in later years. This trend is forecast to continue in the coming years.
Leicester City Council is responsible for setting the admission arrangements for all of its mainstream community and voluntary controlled schools in the city. We are not proposing any changes or seeking comments on our admissions criteria or scheme, but we are proposing the following changes to the Planned Admissions Number at two primary schools:
- Reduce the Published Admissions Number (PAN) at Herrick Primary School from 60 to 30.
- Reduce the Published Admissions Number (PAN) at Rushey Mead Primary School from 90 to 60.
If agreed, these changes will take effect from the start of the 2025/26 academic year.
Our full admissions arrangements can be viewed by clicking the document links below. Further information about each proposal can be found by clicking 'Online survey'.
