We Asked

As part of our public engagement and consultation process we invited Leicester residents to complete the UK City of Culture 2017 questionnaire providing their views on the city, their local community, the venues they use, their favourite things in the city and their thoughts, ideas and aspirations for Leicester’s UK City of Culture 2017 bid.

You Said

The online questionnaire was available from 11 July – 20 September, with hard copies distributed through community centres, libraries, museums, sports centres, the Visit Leicester centre and at consultation events that were held for stakeholders, community groups and the general public. Copies were also made available at the numerous festivals and community events attended by the ‘back the bid’ team during the summer months. In total there was 371 respondents to the questionnaire from across all age groups, postcodes and communities in the city.

We Did

The responses to the consultation were provided to the bid writing team as part of the process of compiling Leicester’s UK City of Culture 2017 bid. The consultation statistics were used in the bid to provide baseline targets for the 2017 year. The suggested events and ideas were compiled and informed the development of the cultural programme for Leicester’s bid. A summary of Leicester’s UK City of Culture 2017 bid is available to download on Leicester’s UK City of Culture 2017 website: www.leicestercityofculture2017.co.uk/ourbid
