Overview
Following the outcomes of the consultation which concluded 14 October 2012, combined with the educational arguments for creating a single, 'all through' primary school, it is proposed to proceed to the next stage of the proposals; publication of a statutory notice followed by a six week period for statutory representations. At the end of this period a further decision will need to be taken whether to implement the proposals or not.

Statutory Notice
Reorganisation of Braunstone Frith Infant and Junior Schools
Part 1
Notice is given in accordance with section 19(1) of the Education and Inspections Act 2006 that Leicester City Council intends to make prescribed alterations to Braunstone Frith Infant School, Liberty Road, Leicester, LE3 6NN with effect from 1st September 2013.
It is proposed to change the age range of Braunstone Frith Infant School, from its current age range of 4 through to 7, to an age range of 4 through to 11 to become an 'all-through' primary school.
It is also proposed to enlarge the capacity of the school. The current capacity of the school is
225 and the proposed capacity will be 525. The current number of pupils registered at the school is 236. The current admission number for the school is 75 into Reception Year and the proposed admission number will remain at 75.
All pupils on roll of the Infant School on 31st August 2013 will transfer to the roll of the new 'all-through' primary school.
All pupils entering Reception Year in September 2013 (aged four on 31st August 2013), and each year after, will be entering a primary school and will stay on roll until transition to secondary school.
Part 2
Notice is given in accordance with section 15(1) of the Education and Inspections Act 2006 that Leicester City Council intends to discontinue Braunstone Frith Junior School, Cuffling Drive, Leicester, LE3 6NF with effect from 31st August 2013. This proposal is 'related' to those in Part 1 above.
All pupils attending the Junior School in Years 3 to 5 at the time of its closure will transfer on to the roll of the 'all-through' primary school (see Part 1). Pupils in Year 6 at the time of its closure will transfer to a secondary school as part of the usual secondary transfer process.
Statutory consultation requirements relating to this proposal have been complied with.

Notes:
1. The newly formed primary school will retain its infant school LA/DFE number and unique reference number and pupils of the closing junior school (see Part 2 above) will have amendments to existing registrations etc. when they transfer to the new primary school.
2. No new or additional site is required for these changes. Some additional building and/or remodelling of existing buildings may be required within the existing sites. This will be phased in agreement with the school, and be subject to the normal planning permission process.
3. The Governing Body will determine the new name for the primary school at their next meeting.
