We Asked

We asked for your views on the proposed 20mph zone for the Folville Junior School Area.

You Said

We received ten responses to the online consultation. Seven were in favour of  the 20mph speed limit and six were in favour of the proposed speed cushions on Waltham Avenue.

A paper consultation was also delivered directly to local residents. We had 78 responses to this, representing a 20% response rate. Of these responses, 72 people (92%) were in favour of the 20mph speed limit and 68 people (87%) were in favour with the proposed speed cushions on Waltham Avenue.

We Did

As a result of the support for the proposal, the City Mayor has approved implementation of the scheme which is scheduled to come into force in April 2016.

Overview

Leicester City Council is proposing to change the speed limit from 30mph to 20mph on streets around Folville Junior School.  In addition, it is proposed to install two sets of speed cushions on Waltham Avenue near to the school.

Why We Are Consulting

The Transport Strategy Section is now consulting residents and other interested parties for their views on the proposed changes.  This consultation will be the basis on which the City Mayor will make his decision on whether to implement the scheme or not.
