Consultation responses were collated and discussed at Schools Forum.

Overview

The Government has announced a wide-ranging set of school funding reforms, to be implemented from April 2013. There is limited local flexibility in implementing the new requirements and the changes are significant. The actual effects are mitigated for two years (2013/14 and 2014/15) through the application of the Minimum Funding Guarantee (MFG). There will also be additional delegation of funds.

The Council is proposing for April 2013 that we replicate as far as possible the existing funding formula to minimise redistribution, with a mandate to review the formula in detail for 2014/15. We are also seeking views on the additional delegation schools will receive from April 2013.

Why We Are Consulting

The consultation will help the Council in reviewing the schools funding formula for 2014/15. We welcome the views of anyone who lives or works in Leicester and of any organisations or professionals with an interest in this issue.
