Speech, Language and Communication Strategy consultation

Closes 22 Mar 2020

Leicester City Council is leading on a 1-year Early Outcomes Fund Project which aims to improve support for children, young people and families with speech, language and communication needs (SLCN).

Our core objectives will be to improve local strategic leadership, evaluate partnerships and resources, and deliver improved services through co-production, joint commissioning, workforce development, data collection sharing and accountability.

Throughout the project, we’ve worked directly with children, young people and families/carers through networks such as Parent Carer Forum, Young People’s Council and Big Mouth Forum, and engaged in informal dialogue in Stay and Play sessions at Children, Young People and Families Centres and coffee mornings in schools, asking what’s working well, what’s not working and what might be possible in supporting those with SLCN.

Two versions of the strategy are available:

  • Full strategy document (designed for professionals and others working with children and young people with SLC needs)
  • Strategy summary (a shorter version for parents, members of the public and others who prefer an abridged copy of the full strategy).

You will have the opportunity to download / comment on either version when you click the relevant link on the next page.
